Our team is returning to Meriden, CT to run a Bible camp and conduct area surveys for the church plant, New Beginnings Baptist Outreach.  This represents Grace Fellowship's fifth year on mission there.  In our first year, July 2006, we had a group of 13 individuals that traveled north in a van.  Since then, our team has grown in size and experience.  This year, we will be bringing 30 people to CT in two busses!  Several of these folks have been to Meriden for all five years that we have served there.  Many others will be going for the first time.  All of them are well-trained, ready, willing and excited to serve the Lord.  Over the course of the years we have been blessed to be able to see and hear about the fruits of our labor at New Beginnings.  Since our first trip to serve this church plant, they have rented a new and larger facility, baptized several new believers, many of whom prayed to receive Christ with our team members, they have weekly services with approximately 30 regular attenders and they have a growing youth group. Let's keep our team lifted up to Him as we send them out to continue what the Lord started 4 years ago.

Saturday July 10th

The mission team of 31 arrived safely in Connecticut today. "Lord, I raise my Ebenezer: Hither by Thy help I've come." We lost our brake lights and signal lights on one bus and all the lights on the trailer. But we're here after 30 hours of driving -- straight through. And that doesn't include stops for gas, food, and ...other essentials :-)

It was tremendous to gather with the team tonight and hear them shout out Bible verses -- and passages -- from memory. We listened to veteran team members share past experiences of God's power for the benefit of first time team members.

Will do my best to keep you updated this week. Busy day tomorrow, Sunday, as we attend Friendship Church, lunch with the people, make it to Meriden in time for a 3:00 PM worship time; then surveying the new field (since New Beginnings moved into a better building in a different neighborhood). Then back to the Lodge for worship and planning Monday's activities.

Thanks for your prayers.

Tuesday July 13th

Today was much better than the slow start we had yesterday. God was evident in many ways, especially in our mission team members and how they gelled together for day 2. While part of the team handled the park ministry, another team did some probing into the neighborhood surrounding the new facilities of New Beginnings.... For a few pictures check Pastor Deaton's and Denise's FB page. Thanks for your prayers.

Wednesday July 14th

Our planned activities were rained out today on mission trip, so we used canopies to provide some cover. However, ministry occurred many times with the kids that showed up and even with some parents. One Muslim took a mini-bible after explaining it was forbidden to read the Bible. Hope God's Word will penetrate her heart.
